NEW - Digital ear examination at AudioPlus Norge AS and DigENT

AudioPlus Norge AS is now launching a brand-new and innovative service within hearing assessment. Through a collaboration with ENT specialist Dr. Eivind Kvittingen from DigENT, AudioPlus can now offer a more comprehensive and holistic assessment of hearing and ear health than ever before.

This is a collaboration between private audiologists and an ENT specialist unlike anything we have seen before. It is a partnership we have wanted for a long time – and one that now makes it possible to provide you with faster clarification, higher quality and a better basis for decisions regarding your hearing health and any need for further care.

Digital ear examination and comprehensive hearing test

Using a digital video otoscope, high-resolution images and video of the ear canal and eardrum are captured. This makes it possible to identify, among other things:

Exostosis / bony growth in the ear canal

In addition, 1–3 hearing tests are always performed. Together, these provide a more comprehensive picture of your hearing status, combining findings from the ear canal examination with an audiogram and a thorough case history.

Specialist assessment – completely digital

The examinations are carried out locally by audiologists at AudioPlus Norge AS. Documentation in the form of images/video, audiograms and case history is then sent digitally to DigENT, where ENT specialist and ear surgeon Eivind Kvittingen assesses the material.

If a disease or injury is identified, you may be referred more quickly for the necessary examination, treatment, surgery or hearing aid fitting. This contributes to earlier clarification and reduced waiting times within the healthcare system.

Documentation you can use going forward

Following the assessment, you will receive a digital letter containing the specialist’s assessment of the findings and recommendations for further follow-up or rehabilitation in the event of hearing loss. DigENT can, for example, refer you to specialist healthcare services if you need to obtain hearing aids. This means you do not need to visit your GP for a further referral. The process of obtaining hearing aids can therefore be faster.

All images and test results are stored in your medical record and can be compared over time. The information can also be shared efficiently between your audiologist, GP, other healthcare professionals and specialists.

Helping to reduce waiting times in hearing healthcare

We currently see that many referrals to ENT specialists are rejected due to a lack of an audiogram. At the same time, public hearing centres have long waiting lists for services such as hearing aid follow-ups, adjustments, hearing assessments and cochlear implant (CI) evaluations.

By carrying out a comprehensive hearing assessment, unnecessary referrals can be avoided – while people who genuinely need and are motivated for further treatment can receive help more quickly. Our goal is to improve access to specialist expertise and contribute to more efficient use of healthcare resources in Norway.
