Fire Safety Week – Stay Safe
This week, many schools and kindergartens are marking the annual Fire Safety Week – an important reminder to check smoke alarms, fire extinguishers, and other alerting devices in your home. If you cannot hear a smoke alarm without your hearing aids, there are effective alerting devices available for use at home.

Statistics show that 9 out of 10 fires occur in homes, and that early warning saves lives.
For people with hearing loss, the risk can be particularly high: According to the Norwegian Directorate for Civil Protection (DSB), people who cannot hear conventional smoke alarms face a significantly greater risk of not being able to evacuate in time in the event of a fire.
Important measures:
Test your smoke alarms regularly
Have at least one working smoke alarm on every floor
Remember that batteries need to be replaced regularly
Have alerting devices installed if you cannot hear a fire alarm without your hearing aids
For people with hearing loss, there are effective solutions that can make everyday life safer, such as smoke alarms with visual alerts, vibration, or connection to alerting systems.
Alerting devices are provided free of charge through the NAV Assistive Technology Centre.
